South Central Kansas Winter Guard Festival (SCKWGF)Your performing group is invited to participate in the annual area Winter Guard exhibition show held in early February (see downloadable invitation for date and location details). The South Central Kansas Winter Guard Festival was created as an opportunity to generate interest in the Winter Guard activity (MUSIC AND MOVEMENT) and to give students a forum to demonstrate their talents and hard work in a physically and artistically challenging sport. The teams perform in exhibition on a standard high school basketball court and receive taped comments from experienced judges. There are no formal performance rules and minimal time constraints. This is just a great opportunity to have your color guard, brass ensemble, drum line, or twirler lines perform in front of a receptive audience and to observe and learn from other area groups. Teams are welcome to perform their marching band feature, pep assembly routine, basketball half-time routine, and/or contest routine. It is up to each individual group to decide what will be performed. The more creative the better!
